Kathy Siebrasse is the Public Relations Director for CGS and also is part of the Health and Technology Engagement Team within the Division of Outreach, Engagement, and Regional Development. She joined NIU early in 2011 and is responsible for communications and marketing for CGS, the Health and Technology Engagement Team, and also the iFiber Network, a 900-mile fiber broadband network in Northwest Illinois administered by NIU.
Kathy is responsible for creating and maintaining several websites, in addition to newsletters, social media outlets, press releases and a variety of other communication tools. She works closely with the entire CGS staff to help promote the large number of events, presentations, studies and publications undertaken at CGS.
Kathy formerly was owner/publisher/editor of The MidWeek Newspaper (1982-2001), was publisher/editor of InVironments Magazine in DeKalb County for eight years, and has been a journalist her entire working career. She also served as DeKalb County District Director for former State Senator J. Bradley Burzynski for 10 years.
Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from NIU. She has been an active volunteer in the DeKalb County community for more than 40 years, including serving on boards and committees of the DeKalb Education Foundation, J.F. Glidden Homestead & Historical Center, DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, NIU Foundation, TAILS Humane Society, and KishHealth Foundation.
